80th
AGM and Annual Dinner
Our Co-operative had successfully
concluded its 80th Annual General Meeting and the Annual Dinner the two
major events for the financial year ending 30 September 2011
.
The 80th Annual General Meeting was held on
25 March 2012 at the Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society, 360 Jalan
Macalister, Pulau Pinang. A total of 1883 members attended the meeting.
Also present at the meeting was Encik Md. Huzaini b. Md. Hussin
(Pembantu Ehwal Ekonomi) of Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia, Negeri Pulau
Pinang.
The proposed amendment to
change the financial year from 30 September to 31 December of each year
was tabled and unanimously accepted by the members. The reasons for the
change was due to cultural and religious festivals like "Cheng Beng"
and "All Souls Day", Good Friday and Easter Holidays which usually
occur in March till April. And this has resulted in members requesting
to change the date of our AGM so that it does not clash with such
festivals. Our Co-operative had submitted the proposed amendment for
registration with the SKM on the 28 March 2012 and received the
approval on the 18 April 2012. All future Annual General Meetings of
the Co-operative will now be held sometime in the month of June every
year.
The Annual Dinner was held at Hotel Gurney,
Gurney Drive, Penang on Saturday 21 April 2O12. A total of 640 members
and guests attended the dinner. The Guest of Honour for the night was
Penang Chief Minister, YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng. Our sincere thanks to the
Chief Minister for gracing the occasion.
As we are celebrating our
80th Annual Dinner, the Board decided to extend invitations to all
former Directors as guests of honour in appreciation of their past
services and contributions to the Co-operative.
