The membership of our Co-operative
has been on the decline for the past few years. Froom 2005 to 2009, a
period of 5 years, a total of 596 members had left for various reasons
as against 256 new members who joined the Co-operative.
In the span of 5 years, we have lost 340 members. This worrying trend,
if left unchecked, will affect the quality of the Death Benefit Scheme.
Currently, there are 17,000 teachers in the State of Penang. The number
of teachers who have joined the various teachers' co-operatives is
estimated to be 7,000. Therefore, there are still 10,000 teachers who
have yet to join any co-operatives.
Your Co-operative is now embarking on an aggressive membership
campaign. It has adopted the year 2010 as the year of membership
campaign and it has set a target of recruiting 200 new members. In an
effort to achieve the target, a sum of RM20,000.00 has been allocated
as cash rewards to members as well as cash incentives to new members.
This membership drive isopen from now until 30 September 2010 or when
the target of 200 new members has been achieved, whichever is earlier.
During the campaign period, a member who recruits a new member will
receive a RM50.00 cash reward. Therefore, if you recruit 20 new
members, you will recieve RM1,000.00. We call upon all members to play
their part in helping to recruit new members in their schools and at
the same time avail yourselves of the the cash rewards.
Similarly, an eligible new member who signs up during this campaign
period, will receive a cash incentive of RM50.00 apart from the
exemption of RM50.00 entrance free.
The introducer or recruiter mush sign as proposer in the application
form and a newly signed up member must retain his or her membership
with the co-operative for a minimum period of one year.
The reward and incentive will be paid upon the first deduction received
after the approval of the application
